Our Mill Park and Lalor towing services cover the entire North Melbourne area; every suburb, at any time. So when you need assistance, TOW can provide affordable and efficient towing to wherever you need to go.

Lalor and Mill Park are suburbs in the north of Melbourne, located about 20km north of the CBD. Together, they are home to more than 50,000 residents and their close proximity to both North Melbourne and the central Melbourne city results in a steady flow of incoming and outgoing traffic all throughout the day. Roads in the area are notorious for heavy congestion, and accidents are common as drivers become impatient in the slow moving traffic and take risks on the road. TOW is available round the clock for Lalor and Mill Park towing, to make sure you can always get assistance when you need it.

We have a 24 hour call centre standing by to take your call. We can send a tow truck to your location anywhere in North Melbourne, no matter what time of the day or night it is.

The Worst Roads in North Melbourne

The suburbs in and around the northern Melbourne region have a number of local roads which are frequently heavily congested, causing problems for drivers and often leading to car accidents and crashes. TOW strongly advises that you be extra careful when travelling on these roads, and prepare accordingly for a longer travel time so that you aren’t tempted to cut corners and drive unsafely. Be aware and considerate of other drivers, and give your full attention to the road at all times.

Plenty Road in Mill Park, north of McKimmies Road to The Lakes Boulevard, is widely recognised as one of the state’s most congested arterial roads. With poorly coordinated traffic signals, very short cycle times and a lack of turning lanes, long queues build up particularly in morning and afternoon peak times.

High Street and Epping Road in Epping is another cause for concern, carrying around 83,000 vehicles every day through a number of congested and poorly performing intersections along the road.

Somerton Road between Roxburgh Park Drive and Mickleham Road in Greenvale has been identified as one of the most dangerous road in Melbourne’s outer suburbs. With not enough lanes or traffic signals at pivotal intersections, it does not adequately cater for the large number of cars travelling on the road every day.

Planned Road Improvements

The Victoria State Government has recognised the need for road improvements in the Northern Melbourne area, and has allocated funding towards implementing a number of safety upgrades.

$3 million has been put towards removing 50 of the most dangerous level crossings in Melbourne, including at Camp Road, Glenroy Road, Lower Plenty Road and the Melton Highway. At some of these level crossings boom gates are down for up to 30 minutes of every hour during morning peak times, causing major traffic congestion and delays. The removal of these crossings will significantly improve the safety of the roads, ease congestion and reduce travel times.

Eltham-Yarra Glen Road between Kangaroo Ground-St Andrews Road and the Melba Highway in Eltham has a history of severe run-off-road crashes occurring, where drivers have lost control of their vehicles. Vic Roads will aim to improve the safety of the road and reduce the risk and severity of crashes by installing safety barriers, road sealing, and improving line marking and signage.

These planned upgrades are expected to make the roads in and around North Melbourne much safer for drivers by significantly improving their overall quality and safety. However we strongly advise that you continue to drive safely on these routes and take care while the improvements are in progress.
